Frank Bowling Biography

Frank Bowling

Frank Bowling is a British artist who moved to the UK from Guyana in 1953. Bowling quickly made his mark on the art world, graduating with a silver medal in painting from London’s prestigious Royal College of Art, where he was classmates with David Hockney.

Considered a master of his medium, Bowling is renowned for large-scale abstract ‘Map’ paintings, ambitious in both scale and scope. His visionary style fuses abstraction and colour field painting with personal memories.

Across his prolific 60 year career, Bowling has become a master of light, colour and geometry. Now well into his 80s, Bowling still paints every day, continuing his experimentation with new techniques and materials.
